How much do you know about sea urchins?

Sea urchins are a familiar sight at sushi restaurants and when enjoying activities on the beach!
Purple sea urchins, green sea urchins, sandy sea urchins that live in the sandy areas, poisonous sea urchins, and many more...
Of course, we also have many on display at Sea Paradise.

But how much do you all really know about sea urchins...?

This time, we have invited Hisanori Kozuka as our instructor to conduct a workshop on "sea urchins."
You can learn about the biology of sea urchins by listening to various stories about what kind of creatures they are, whether they walk, and by carefully observing their bodies and spines using a microscope.

Participants will receive a sea urchin shell specimen as a gift.

You'll have to wait until the day to find out what kind of live sea urchins and specimens you'll be able to see!

Lecturer Introduction

Hisanori Kozuka, technical specialist at the Misaki Marine Biological Station, University of Tokyo

In addition to working at several Aquariums, he has also worked as a researcher at an environmental consulting company, and is currently working as a technical specialist at the Misaki Marine Biological Station of the University of Tokyo.
As a specialist in echinoderms such as sea urchins and sea ferns, he supervises picture books and capsule toys, and is an expert on marine life. Ask lots of questions about the creatures you find!

Graduate School of Science, The University of Tokyo, Marine Biological Laboratory (Misaki Marine Biological Laboratory)

Founded in 1886, it is one of the oldest marine research stations in the world. It is actively conducting research on the development, physiology, ecology, and evolution of marine animals, and has made a great contribution to the development of biology in Japan. It has also left a significant mark on the history of marine animal research worldwide. The actual research conducted at the laboratory is also being introduced at Hakkeijima!

Price	free One ticket allows up to four people to participate. (Example) 4 people attending: 1 ticket; 5 people attending: 2 tickets Reservations are for children aged 4 and older. Children aged 0-8 must be accompanied by a guardian aged 18 or older. Children aged 9 and older can participate alone. * Even accompanying persons are required to participate. * A separate ticket is required for admission to "Aqua Resorts (4 Aquariums facilities)".

Capacity	10 groups per session, up to 4 people per group (including guardians)
Reception method	WEB advance reservation Online reservations are accepted until 7:00 AM on the day of the event. If the number of advance reservations does not reach the capacity, tickets will be sold on the day at Aqua Museum 4F Information counter. *Registration will close once the maximum number of participants is reached.
Information on the day	Please be sure to check ・Please come to Fureai Lagoon 5 minutes before the program starts on the day. We will confirm your name and number of people when you register. *You will need a ticket to enter Aquariums to enter Fureai Lagoon. Please prepare it before participating in the program.
Remarks	This program is aimed at elementary school students, but parents and other adults are also welcome to participate. There will be lectures and observations using sharp tweezers and microscopes. Please keep an eye on small children.
